Action Committees
Not an actual Action Committee
(but they do look happy)
Are you interested in starting to help with our effort but afraid of getting “too” involved? Well, you found the right place.
We know that the nature of moderates is that they are, by definition, not zealots. They care deeply but they also have busy lives. There are children, grandchildren, jobs, travel, church and community groups, activities, hobbies. In short, they have lives to live.
There are many ways that we will be different from revolutionary groups but one of the main ones is building a movement that is by and for moderates.
We think we have a flexible action step that hits the sweet spot for moderates with limited time but want to do something more than just stay informed. We are calling them Action Committees.
These Action Committees will be flexible in structure and activity. It really is nothing more than two or more friends agreeing to sign on and help spread the word in whatever way works for them. We are trying to build a network of people throughout the state who can help spread the word within their communities.
We are hoping that this informal network will be useful for when we start our petition drive to have the Free State Party certified by the state of Kansas. Again, even that will be only for whatever time and energy you have.
Because people love lists, here's the bulleted list for Action Committees:
To start, at least two (you can always add more) people who have read our material and think we would be good for Kansas.
Choose a name. It could be anything. A town, a street, a neighborhood, a book club, a historical figure.
Send an email to info@joinfreestate.org with Action Committee in the subject line. Tell us your committee’s name and the primary contact. Send the names, addresses, emails, and cell numbers (only the name and email are required) of the original members.
We will let you know if the name you chose works (not already being used). We will also send you a link to where you can download a packet of information that can be used to spread the word and find more members.
Meetings can be as frequently as you want but at least monthly. They can be in person, by Zoom, by chat groups. Whatever works best for your group. This way, you don’t even have to live in the same town.
Your initial mission is to get a reasonable understanding of the Fee State Party and have the necessary information and material to tell other friends who might be interested.
When the time for the petition drive comes, we will reach out and give you options on how you might help with that effort.
If you have an opportunity that would be good for someone from organizing committee to come and present on the party, let us know.
We don’t have decoder rings for Action Committees but you could call yourselves Action Rangers.
