Action over anger.

Free State Plan

In 2024, 32 State House Republicans ran unopposed, 18 Democrats ran unopposed.

That is 40% of the seats. In 2022, it was 50% of the seats. That’s Democracy?

A detailed map of Kansas with state house district boundaries, and red circles indicating districts where representatives ran unopposed in 2024.

Map shows the 32 unopposed Republicans House districts and how they are spread across the state.

Forty percent unopposed? We’re not a spoiler if the two parties don’t even challenge each other.

  • New Party

A party in Kansas for moderates.  We are focused on offering a choice where voters don’t have one.

  • 2026 Ballot

Formally create a new moderate party, The Free State Party, to be on the ballot in Kansas in 2026.

  • Moderate Platform

We have drafted a platform of moderate principles and how those principles are reflected in prominent issues.

  • Action

We have an action plan for competing in state house seats where incumbents were unopposed in the last general election with the possibility of competing in other statewide and national races.

  • Break Super-Majorities

Our starting goal is to flip at least five Republican seats in the Kansas House to deny Republicans their super-majority that lets them do whatever they want.

  • Balance

If we talk about taking away from Republicans, it’s not because we’re Democrats. It’s because Republicans are the ones with a super majority in both houses.

  • Supporters

We are seeking supporters across Kansas who agree with our principles.

  • Signatures

Once we start our petition drive to be certified as a party, we will NEED your signature and help with donations to promote the Free State party.

  • Make History

We need you to spread the word. Tell moderate people that there is hope and there is “something” they can do to help us make history in Kansas.
